COCKEYSVILLE MIDDLE SCHOOL

Our relationship supporting needy families at CMS has spanned many years. We helped establish and currently support the CMS Food Pantry. At the beginning of every school year, we collect school supplies from a list of most-requested items and then consolidate them into backpacks which are then blessed. At Thanksgiving, we prepare dozens of giant plastic bins filled with donated food. We are also available for other needs as they arise. As we continue to live into our mission statement, we hope to engage in a more interactive relationship with CMS students. If you’d like to learn more, please e-mail Sherwood’s Outreach Coordinator Joyce Mann.

UCAN

United Churches Assistance Network (UCAN) is an emergency assistance coalition of more than a dozen local churches that offers financial and referral help to those in need within the community. Most of UCAN’s funds help prevent evictions & utility turn-offs. Donations from Sherwood’s Thanksgiving service are directed to UCAN and Mother Nancy is a board member and there are several Sherwood parishioners who volunteer on a weekly basis at the UCAN outreach office. If you’re interested in participating, e-mail Sherwood’s Outreach Coordinator Joyce Mann.

EPIPHANY COMMUNITY CENTER

The Epiphany Community Center is a coalition comprised of faith-based and community organizations that connects families with resources that can help them move from the crisis of homelessness toward self-sufficiency. Support includes counseling, case management, financial literacy, life skill development, educational attainment, and employment services. Sherwood is part of the Epiphany Community Center coalition. If you’d like to learn more, e-mail Mother Nancy.

LOAVES & FISHES

Loaves & Fishes is located in Fullerton at St. Matthias Church. They provide a hot meal every Saturday at noon, and volunteers from Sherwood prepare and serve this meal on a regular basis. We also collect much-needed items including socks, gloves, undergarments and personal hygiene products throughout the year. To volunteer or donate, e-mail Sherwood’s Outreach Coordinator Joyce Mann.

SELF-HELP GROUPS

Within the historic setting of the Parish House, several self-help groups have found their meeting home at Sherwood, including Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. We are pleased to offer the Parish House as a site for these kinds of gatherings that focus on healing both mentally and spiritually. If you’re interested in hosting your group at Sherwood, please e-mail Parish Administrator Carey Mednick.
