The Reverend Nancy H. Hennessey, Rector

Mother Nancy was ordained and installed as Sherwood’s rector in July of 2016. She is a graduate of The General Theological Seminary in NYC where she served a variety of diverse congregations. She interned at Holy Apostles, also home to Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen, the second largest feeding program in the country. Mother Nancy served her Wisdom Year between two congregations—House of Prayer, Newark, NJ and Christ Church, Short Hills, NJ. Her role was to help build a bridge between two different congregations who are both passionate for outreach to the greater community.

Currently, Mother Nancy serves for the diocese on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and is a mentor for Exploring Our Baptismal Covenant program, the first step for those who are discerning a call to lay or ordained ministry.

Prior to ordination, Mother Nancy worked in the private and non-profit sectors and served as the Director of the Catherine Shouse Filene Center for Career Development and Experiential Learning at Hood College, her alma mater.

Nancy and Kevin have three grown children, Lauren, Megan, and Ted. She enjoys the outdoors for all kinds of sports or just plain walking in her community or surrounding park trails. She is an avid reader and relishes time with family and friends.
